It’s me again. And I’m still hoping for some cooler weather. Fall weather puts me in the mood for fire pits and sweat pants and ghost stories! Fun fact about me: I LOVE ghost stories. Not the crazy outrageous kind, but the creepy local legend kind rooted in some interesting part of history. It’s pretty hard to scare me, but I like listening to stories when someone at least TRIES to be scary (just as long as nothing is jumping out at me). Side note: I adore the Snap Judgment storytelling podcast year round and they release special “Spooked” Halloween episodes every year, so check it out!
This is where Unseen Press and Historic Indiana Ghost Walks & Tours come in because they get me. They offer historic walks in Indianapolis neighborhoods with the perfect combination of fresh fall air and local history. I went on the “Haunted Indianapolis Ghost Walk” last year and learned SO much about some of cool buildings and streets downtown. My small group met up around twilight hour, walked around, and ended up wrapping up after dark. Our tour leader had put so much time into researching the tour and had pictures and handouts to go along with some of the stories. This was a “ghost” tour that even my mom would approve of since it contained pretty PG-level local legends.
The company has a whole list of other interesting options too, such as the “Mayhem in Madison County Bus Tour” and the “Haunted Underground Railroad Walking Tour.” I appreciate that the tours cover quite a bit of ground across the city so everyone can have an opportunity to learn more about their neighborhood (I’m still waiting on a Haunted Broad Ripple tour, though). Tickets sell out pretty fast ($18 for walking tours), especially around Halloween, so you’ll want to plan in advance. Ghost walks are a great date night idea or way to entertain your friends from out-of-town.

Very neat. One of my daughters was a Haunted Walk guide in Kingston, Ontario. (That’s Canada first capital city) I would love to attend a haunted, or even historical, walk of churches in various cities. So far have not come across any.

Fortunately there were stories they had to memorize rather than a lot of history. Although that helped!

Now that I am in the mood for Fall (kind of) I want the weather to cooperate as well gosh darn it! I also LOVE ghost tours! They are the best! I hope you have an amazing fall beauty! ❤
