Luciana’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina isn’t brand new in Broad Ripple, but considering the revolving door of restaurants that seem to haunt its address, I wanted to wait a few and see if it was actually going to have staying power. And if the crowds last Sunday night were any indication, I think it’s going to be around a while.
I’ll describe it as cute, colorful, and busy. Menu is pretty much the same variety of tacos, burritos, enchiladas and the like that you can find at pretty much any standard Mexican place. I had the chicken chimichanga and my friend tried the beef taco salad. It was definitely good and maybe even at the top end of “traditional” places you think of when you imagine a good place to get some flat rice and beans with a side of queso, but nowhere near creative enough to rank it with any of the more interpretive taco places that seem to be taking over the city (and my heart).
But I’ll still be back. Because sometimes “just average” is just what I’m in the mood for.
