What is even going on with Livery? For starters, I’ve been meaning to write this review for weeks, but kept pushing it to the back burner, which makes me wonder if it was really that memorable of an experience. Also, we parked far away and walked in, only to realize they offer valet parking for the same price I paid 1/2 mile away. Oh well. AND since they are part of the local Cunningham Restaurant Group, you can earn reward points for eating here that add up towards a gift card. I had no idea! I could have been earning points on my Union 50 visits all this time… Anyway, I’ll survive.
But let’s really talk about the Livery. It’s on Mass Ave; it’s small, with two floors and a rooftop patio. It used to be a horse stable or something cool. It’s loud, so it feels like a real scene (expect a wait). And it’s Latin-inspired, whatever that means, because everything new and hip seems to be Latin-inspired. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I was definitely hoping for a good margarita.
They offer shared small plates (who doesn’t, these days??), so, of course, my friend and I had to try multiple things. I appreciated the Chicharron that was provided as a pre-dinner snack. My favorite ordered dishes were the Chicken Empanadas, Skirt Steak, and some kind of yummy potatoes. Nice flavor and various textures. Our server went on for a while about their batch margarita process and the multiple funnels my drink journeyed through before arriving at my table, but I was not impressed with the Livery Margarita. Too much tang and not enough strength.
Overall, it was fun and tasty, but not remarkable. I liked the vibe and friendly service, but it feels so “of the moment” that I imagine it being overlooked when the next cool thing opens up in town.
Anyone else checked it out?

Thanks for sharing! I drive by that place every day and have been wanting to try it. But if it’s not so remarkable, I’ll wait. ha!
