Friday Foodie: Firehouse Subs (featuring limited edition Firehouse Pub Steak Sub)

I hope your week is going well. I’ve been a bit buried in dissertation research while counting down until Christmas break. I’ve been also trying to pack more meals to eat in between classes, which means less eating out, but hopefully saving more money. Packing a lunch is hard, though, because in order to pack a lunch, you also have to go the grocery store, find a clean lunch bag, remember to freeze your ice packs, and then make sure to actually grab your packed lunch on the way out the door. It’s probably obvious, but all of these steps do not happen to me very often, so I’m thankful for all the yummy sandwich shops in Indianapolis to meet my lunch and dinner needs!

Firehouse Subs recently invited me to stop by and try their limited edition new sub: the Firehouse Pub Steak Sub. This savory steak sandwich is topped with a rich blend of sharp cheddar and American cheeses flavored with White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale, and crispy fried onions, served atop Firehouse Subs’ signature toasted sub roll. The custom beer cheese sauce was developed by Firehouse Subs and is only available until the end of the year.

It had been a while since I’d visited Firehouse Subs, so the manager gave me a reminder about  some of the things that I forgot. I learned that each location slices their meats fresh every day. I heard all about the awesome work that each location does to support emergency response services and give back to the local communities. I also found out that Firehouse Subs produces hot sauces that come with a cult following! I had no idea!

Husband and I both ordered the new sub, along with sides of chips and fresh soup. My sandwich was DELICIOUS! I honestly wasn’t too hungry when I walked in the restaurant, but couldn’t stop eating it because it was so good. The soft wheat bread combined with the hearty meat and warm cheese sauce was such a wonderful flavor combination. My sandwich was very large and filling. I definitely understood why this is the perfect fall meal. I’m all about the Pub Steak Sub now and am ready for Round #2.
