A friend left me a message last week to say he was in town for a few days and would love to get together. I called back on my way home from night class, “I have stuff to make tacos or we can go out.”
We made tacos.
And then decided to invite more people over. So we also made chocolate-chip cookies.
I hadn’t been to the store for a while, so we were a little short on a few things. Not a Pinterest recipe, not repeated from another blog, and not a creative invention-just your basic “recipe from the back of the bag”, so easy that I’ve memorized it.
They were delicious.
Sometimes, the basics are all you need.

My life is feeling like “back to basics” these days with learning a new schedule and adapting to a new routine. I’m used to being an expert in my field and now there is not enough time in class to answer all my questions. I’ve already forgotten most of APA style and need more school supplies. I’m back to reminding myself why I wanted a challenge and trying to remember my career goals.
But I’m going to class. And I just submitted a paper. And I even saw some friends last week.
Sometimes, the basics are all you need.

I just love your style. It feels like curling up on the couch with a hot tea and a good book! Pictures are lovely, as well 🙂

The cookies look delicious! Sometimes going back to the basics are all you need for sure. 🙂
Also, best of luck to you with relearning APA! It wasn’t my favorite form of formatting, but it’s not like I got to choose, haha! 🙂
